So you’re new to Olive Branch, and maybe you’re wondering what to expect when you attend a service. Let me take a minute to walk you through a typical service and explain a little bit of what we’re about at Olive Branch.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A SERVICE
When you step onto the campus of Olive Branch, we want you to feel right at home, so feel free to dress casually and comfortably. The Bible tells us that God is more concerned with our hearts than He is with how we dress or look (1 Samuel 16:7), so we encourage you to spend the morning preparing your heart, not your wardrobe. During a Sunday service, we’ll spend a portion of our time together joining in song both as a way to express praise to God, as well as to prepare our hearts and minds for the passage of Scripture that we’ll be studying that day. During the message our Lead Teaching Pastor Greg Harris (or another speaker) strives to help you understand what the Scriptures say, but also to help you to apply it to your everyday life, whether we are studying a book of the Bible or a particular theme of Scripture. At the end of the message there is a chance to hear about the upcoming events and opportunities that are available to respond to, along with an invitation to receive prayer or encouragement if you are in need of either.
GET TO KNOW YOU LUNCH
If you’re interested in finding out more about the church and getting to meet some of the staff and elders from Olive Branch, then you’ll want to consider attending the next Get To Know You Lunch. This lunch is typically offered on the first Sunday of every other month as an informal way to meet some of the leadership at Olive Branch and hear about a few of the opportunities available to you if you’d like to take the next step and get more connected.
